Welcome to the world of entertainment. Welcome to the world of dreams. Welcome to the world of luxury. Star Plus has been for years, India’s number one Hindi prime time television soaps’ channel. When I take a look at perhaps any television serial aired on Star Plus today, the homes are filled with glamour and colors but what stands out very clearly is the use of Kashmiri carpets. Kashmiri carpets are world renowned for their handwork and craftsmanship and the Indian population loves them to death. Kashmiri carpets are beautiful, classy and fit into every kind of household in India. These carpets are epitome of elegance and define sophistication in their own way. These carpets come in different designs and colors with some of them being inspired by the Persian art. Despite this cultural influence, the Kashmiri carpets settle very well into all kinds of regional cultures of Indian homes. Clearly, this is one of the reasons why they are also highly shown in the homes aired on Star Plus.

Most of the programs aired on Star Plus show plush homes, affluent families and are probably the best platform to understand what is being underlined as the statement of grandness. Kashmiri carpets can be used in living rooms, bedrooms, verandahs and even bathrooms. The attention to detail and the pursuit for perfection makes them a hot cake featuring on most television programs on Star Plus. This is one of the reasons why I picked up four different kinds of Kashmiri carpets when I traveled to Kashmir during summer this year. Even on television programs like Na Aana Is Des Meri Lado, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain and other leading ones, Kashmiri carpets are clearly seen everywhere. Made from fine Pashmina, Kashmiri carpets are also auctioned at mind blowing prices. Pashmina as everyone knows is one of the best natural fibers that come from goats in central Asia.

Among the Kashmiri carpets, there are some made of silk and some made of wool. Silk carpets are known for their softness and delicate craftsmanship. Probably this is why even the smallest of rooms shown on Star Plus’ television serials show them. Personally, I prefer the woolen carpets. Woolen Kashmiri carpets are not only soft but also easy to clean. From a professional point of view, these carpets make for a great buy as the dirt tends to settle on the shooting sets.

Kashmiri carpets are relatively subtle than compared to carpets from other parts of the world and are usually in the shades of red, yellow and blue. These color shades are perfect to bring glow to any kind of setting on serials aired on the Star network. If it is poem not in words then it has to be a Kashmiri carpet.
