In India, lighting up a place means celebration and festivities. Among all forms of lighting, there is nothing that can be compared to chandeliers. Chandeliers bring a touch of class and royal feel to a place. I consider chandelier the best piece of lighting that can make any place glitter. Chandeliers have also been a part of memorable Indian history with several kings and rulers having more than one in their courtyard, living and bedrooms. That legacy and richness continue to dwell in many Indian homes till date.

Although not too popular now because of its price, chandeliers are still a part of many houses and offices in India with adequately large living rooms. New Delhi based company Delhi Brass is one of the best in the business of chandeliers. Delhi Brass has variety of chandeliers made in crystal, brass and metal with designs that can only leave you delighted and amazed. The designs of these chandeliers are inspired from Persian art, Mongolian art and some also from European. When I bought my first chandelier last year, I chose one that can go with the festival of lights, Diwali. Of course, I was also in hunt of a chandelier that suits my home décor and makes my place look gracious.

No matter how many lights you put up, one chandelier can over shadow them all. Perhaps, this is because any chandelier irrespective of being big or small brings richness to the place. It lights up the mood and the living. Kapoor Lamps is another company that manufactures outstanding lamps with perfect Indian designs.  Whether it is classic old style from the Mogul era or a contemporary style seen in Bollywood movies, they have got it all at very affordable prices. Cone Crackle is one of my favorite in the list of chandeliers at Kapoor Lamps. It is simple, vibrant and can suit indoor and outdoor equally well.

From a fashion perspective, chandeliers are picking up the pace on Indian fashion scene. More and more people are opting for one big chandelier in their living rooms rather than several mediocre tube lights or electric bulbs. However, I believe that chandeliers must always be accompanied with some other forms of light in order to make the room brighter.

Yes, the monarchy is gone and the rooms aren’t like courtyards but chandeliers definitely give the royal look to any place.
